We feel that it is important to educate Minnesota residents about the threat presented by the Emerald Ash Borer. Since its discovery in Michigan in 2002; the Emerald Ash Borer has destroyed over a million trees in the United States. The Emerald Ash Borer was discovered in St. Paul on May 13, 2009 and it is only a matter of time before the whole state becomes infested with this pest. Extensive containment efforts have not been successful in stopping the spread of this destructive pest. All of our ash trees will soon be destroyed if we don’t take preventative measures. At The Tree Squad we feel that knowing the facts will help you make a good decision about what is best for your ash trees.

Without any help from us they will all soon be dead!. However,  there is good news. By studying what treatments have been successful in areas that the EAB has already visited, we at The Tree Squad are proud to offer you a treatment that can save your ash trees and ensure their longevity.

Tree Squad gets rid of Emerald Ash Borer

There have already been thousands of trees saved throughout Michigan and surrounding states that been successfully preserved by using the treatment that we offer. Don't leave the treatment of your ash trees to chance by going with a company that has jumped on the EAB wagon to offer you a new product that doesn't have a strong track record of saving trees or that will only guess on what type of doseage and treatment to use.

Tree Squad gets rid of Emerald Ash Borer

As you can see in these real life examples provided by Arborist Wayne White with Emerald Tree Care in Michigan, if you follow our proven preventative treatment schedule , your ash trees can be saved even if they are within feet of other ash trees that are neglected and suffer a high pressure infestation. There is no longer any reason to helplessly have to watch our ash trees die due to the emerald ash borer.

We use proven treatments and monitor your trees.

Please be aware that there are other newer treatments offered by a variety of lawn and tree care companies are using university lab studies to back their products claims, but they have little or no track record of results to speak of. We at The Tree Squad only offer proven treatments along with a full annual monitoring of your ash trees condition and health, adjusting our treatment for what is most economical, without forsaking what is best for each of the ash trees we treat. With this devotion and effort you will feel confident in enjoying your beautiful trees for years to come!

Choose an environmentally friendly treatment option.

The treatments we offer at The Tree Squad are also non-invasive to the long term vitality of your trees. We do not recommend treatments that use active ingreidents like Emamectin Benzoate that is a "RESTRICTED USE PESTICIDE DUE TO ACUTE TOXICITY TO HUMANS" as offered in Arborjets TREE-AGE product. We are happy to offer a different treatment that is non-invasive and more environmentally safe. We are concerned with the long term effects that our products can have on your trees and yard. Call today and have our arborist come out to give you the information that will help you make the right decision for you!

We feel that the following information will help you to choose the best treatment to ensure the vitality of your ash trees. Let’s consider the pros and cons to each of these methods, as it is important to understand the advantages and disadvantages between the available products and the one we recommend. The three main treatments offered by arborists and lawn care companies are:

Direct Inject Wedgle System
an Arbor Systems product (Active ingredient; IMIDACLOPRID)

A direct injection system. It uses a small needle that is inserted into the vascular system of the tree without drilling or cutting into the tree, much like getting a shot at the doctor. It injects Imidacloprid into the vascular system where the tree can deliver it throughout the tree, including the leaves, both quickly and efficiently. The treatment is then sealed into the tree so that there is no exposure to you, your pets or yard. Imidacloprid prevents the Emerald Ash Borer’s larvae from tunneling and killing the ash tree. Since the treatment is absorbed into the leaves, if adult Emerald Ash Borers feed on them it quickly scrambles their nervous system and stops them from feeding or laying eggs until they die. Imidacloprid is an insecticide that has been around for decades and is used in many ways, such as in flea and tick medicine applied to a dog’s backs, to being used on most golf courses for insect turf management. The nice thing about Imidacloprid is that it has low toxicity levels and is not harmful to many of the neutral insects, earthworms, caterpillars, or birds like woodpeckers, or to humans. The Direct Injection treatment has been in use since 2001 and has the longest, strongest track record of preventing and treating Emerald Ash Borer infestations. A single application provides protection for one year. Annual applications are recommended for full protection. For conditions like Emerald Ash Borer where repeated treatments will likely be needed, a non-drilling method is highly preferable.

The Tree Squad recommends this treatment in most situations as part of the treatment schedule that we offer.

Systemic Root Injection or Soak

There are many different products available (Active ingredient IMIDACLOPRID). This treatment has many of the same positive effects as the direct injection, the second method mentioned above.  Unlike the direct injection, it takes time for the tree to pull the active ingredient out of the soil and into the tree to protect it. The bigger the tree the slower the consumption rate, larger trees taking up to 3 months before there is any protection.

When we are into the heaviest pressure of infestation we at The Tree Squad will administer a combination of the Direct Injection along with the Imidacloprid root soak, and a proven fertilizer specific for ash trees.

TREE-AGE
an Arborjet product (Active ingredient; Emmamectin Benzoate),

Being promoted by many tree companies. TREE-AGE will provide two years of protection because of its active ingredient, Emmamectin Benzoate. However, since this chemical is very strong it can kill everything it comes in contact with, good and bad. It is labeled as a” RESTRICTED USE PESTICIDE DUE TO ACUTE TOXICITY TO HUMANS”. TREE-AGE tends to be a more expensive treatment option than the ones listed below. The delivery method used to get TREE-AGE into the tree uses a drill to make holes all the way around the tree, and then the chemical is pumped through the new holes. Drilling wounds disrupt nutrient movement and repeated drilling can seriously impact the trees vitality.

Therefore with these disadvantages in mind, we at The Tree Squad choose not to offer TREE-AGE. But, we are happy to offer a different treatment that is noninvasive and more environmentally safe.

Research has shown since 2001 that trees can thrive even in areas with heavy Emerald Ash Borer pressure. Treated ash trees have survived in areas that have been surrounded by ash trees that have died due to the Emerald Ash Borer. We at Tree Squad have done extensive research in order to find the most reliable and effective treatment to offer to our customers. We have met with other arborists and tree care professionals who have been successfully saving thousands of ash trees across the worst infestation areas. For example, Wayne White with EMERALD TREE CARE has used the Wedgle Direct Injection system along with the Root Soak and fertilization combination to save more ash trees than any other person in the United States. Let us help you protect your beautiful ash trees. We will guarantee the protection of every ash tree we treat, as long as our recommended preventative treatments schedule is followed.
